Dedicated to those who would like to do good but don’t know how. Or to those who need help for themselves or a relative and don’t really know who to turn to. There first complete map of non-profits in Italy it is a concrete response to the personal needs that many Italians have been waiting for. It was launched by a non-profit Italythe largest online portal dedicated to Italian non-profits, and allows you to geolocalize all the bodies, activities and social causes present in the territories.
How the map works
The operation of the platform, completely free, is very similar to Google Maps and allows anyone who uses it to geolocate your position and find entities around you, get in touch with them, get active and find out what they do. But not only that, thanks to its search engine, the map allows you to search for an institution by name or keyword.
There to date the map has already located over 318 thousand non-profit organisations, equal to 87% of the total present in Italy and will soon reach 98%. This result was made possible by the introduction of the Single National Third Sector Register (RUNTS) and the numerous public registers present in the area, but above all thanks to the participation and effort of the organizations which made it possible to build a map increasingly rich in information.
Get into volunteering
Unlike existing registers, the map offers a navigation designed for people who feel the push within them to want to make themselves available to a non-profit, or who may need an organization close to home. The user can geolocate himself from any part of Italy and find all the non-profits around him: in his city, in his neighborhood, up to his own street!
Thanks to the map it is possible to find, for example, an organization where you can volunteer, or an organization where you can make a monetary donation. But also finding an organization to donate goods to (clothes, food, etc.), choosing an organization to assign your 5×1000 to, finding an office where you can donate blood, or an organization through which to make solidarity purchases and gifts.
«We firmly believe that those who want to do good must find easy and quick ways to do it», explains Giulia Frangione, CEO Italy non-profit. «Every day we use sites and apps to find and choose anything near and far from us, but if we have a few free hours to engage in an activity that does good to ourselves or others, many people don’t know where to start , how to get around and where to get information? Finding the right organization and getting active often becomes a tortuous path, and many people get discouraged and prefer to give up. Precisely from these reasons, Italia non-profit and its map of entities that choose transparency were born in 2017 and we have chosen to proceed on these same lines to offer a tool that can be truly useful for citizens”.

Thanks to a dedicated section of the map, which will gradually be enriched and updated, it is possible in simple steps to find help for yourself or for those who need it. Let’s think for example of the cases of victims of violenceat addictionsor whoever comes discriminated against because of their sexual orientation or needs to find assistance for an elderly person.
