The Family Service Center “Together to Do”, is preparing to expand its educational offering. The new one will be inaugurated and opened to the city on Saturday 4 May 2024 Vegetable garden Social – ANDco Pbow “Together”. It will be a moment of leisure and presentation of the activities proposed to families by the social cooperative. The green area of approximately 3000 meters is located in Pellaro, in via Lamonica 2, and was created by the cooperative Insieme per Fare, in collaboration with the volunteers of the social promotion association I hope.
The motivations of Insieme per Fare and Espero – Born with the simple intention of creating an educational garden that could serve and provide the school canteen of the Insieme per Fare nursery school, the social garden – eco park has evolved over time to become a place of meeting, aggregation and solidarity , generating a reality capable of involving as many people as possible, children, adults, elderly people, all eager for healthy company.
What characterizes the social garden – (which has become) the “Together” eco park is the way in which it came to life. Acquired by the social cooperative Insieme per Fare, the area was in a state of abandonment, over the months several volunteers contributed by offering their availability for maintenance and care, the vastness of the spaces and the desire to make them usable with a glance aimed at the environment, and “economically” as it was for our grandparents, they started the search, especially through the well-known Reggio Facebook group “Non si JETTA NENTI”, for reuse material that could be useful for the purpose, of build a sustainable place, thus meeting local people and companies who took up the initiative and contributed to the birth of the Eco Park
From this activity of reuse and transformation of materials, the multiple laboratory and coexistence activities of the past months were born, which transformed a strip of land, first into a vegetable garden and then into an Eco-Park.
The discovery of how by valorising everyone’s knowledge, especially older people, it could convert a scrap of iron into a gate, a disused platform into a fence and so on, generating a place for everyone, was the added value of almost a year of construction, which to date is not complete, involving around 20 volunteers, but which it was decided to make public, so that everyone can decide to make it their own if they want.
The program of the May 4:
at 9.30 am shuttle service from the Universo Bimbo parking area (Pellaro) to the social garden – eco park,
10.00am ribbon cutting of the garden
at 11:00 we will move on to use the area and laboratories.
The last appointment of the day will be in the afternoon when at 2.00 pm a meeting will be held with the theme “The stone is ME, by building the work I build myself”.
