Bergamo. The May 1st this year in Bergamo it will be an opportunity to renew the commitment towards a Europe of peace, work and social justice. At a time when the continent is facing significant challenges, the CGIL, CISL and UIL unions come together to send a message of hope and solidarity, recalling the dream of a united Europe, born in one of the darkest periods of its history, in Ventotene, and fueled by the ardor of visionaries such as Altiero Spinelli and Ernesto Rossi.

The provincial confederal general secretaries Marco Toscano from the CGILAnd Francesco Corna from the Cisland the territorial confederal coordinator of Uil Pasquale Papaianni they announced the program for Wednesday morning, which will be a tangible opportunity to demonstrate the fundamental values ​​of a united Europe, such as Peace, Work and Social Justice.

THE PROGRAM:
at 9.30 – Meeting
Participants will meet at the Piazzale della Stazione in Bergamo to prepare for the procession and share the spirit of European solidarity.
at 10am – Procession
The procession will pass through the streets of Bergamo.
at 11.30 – Speech
The procession will end in Piazza Vittorio Veneto with the intervention – on behalf of the three confederal unions – of Ugo Duci, General Secretary of CISL Lombardy.

Furthermore, they underline the importance of involving and transmitting these values ​​to future generations, so that they can be custodians and promoters of a better future.
The heart of the event will be the procession that will cross the streets of the center of Bergamo, gathering workers, ready to march for their rights and for a better future, not only for their own community, but for the entire European continent. It will be an opportunity to reflect on the path of the European Union, from its roots in Ventotene poster up to the concrete steps taken by
leaders like Konrad Adenauer, Robert Schuman and Alcide De Gasperiwho paved the way for a united Europe, founded on the principles of peace, international cooperation and democracy.

The stage, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, will be dedicated to work and workers. Trade union delegates will bring forward the voices of the still unresolved disputes, highlighting the challenges that remain
we face in the search for a fair distribution of work and resources. Space will be given to local interventions, as delegates of the Trèves of Cazzano Sant’Andrea. The highlight of the
day will be the final speech entrusted to Ugo Duci, general secretary of CISL Lombardy.
