Barletta – 3rd edition of the De Nittis Prize: registrations by May 15th

Schools of all levels, institutes, academies, artists by choice, for fun or by profession from all over Italy. And then accompanied minors, sector experts and art enthusiasts.

All are welcome to join third edition Giuseppe De Nittis Award (unique in the city) promoted by the social and cultural promotion association Southern Divines in Barletta, scheduled Sunday 26 May 2024 in the central Corso Vittorio Emanuele, which for the occasion from 9.30 to 21.30 this year too will be transformed into a real “rue des peintres”.

The event, which boasts the patronage of the Municipality of Barletta, the Prefecture of Barletta-Andria-Trani, the Puglia Region, the Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani and the Tatarella Foundation, recalls and plays on the slogan of the first impressionist exhibition “Hungry for independence”. “Hungry for beauty – in the living room with Léontine” also wants to celebrate the first 150 years of Impressionism.

The cash prizes (500 euros for first place and 250 euros for second) are aimed at adults aged 18 and over and will only be paid for actual extemporaneous works, while awards will be given to schools and accompanied minors. Everything else, from art on bodies to art on clothes, straw, gold, up to floral art and the embellishment of walls, asphalt, concrete and so on, will be a side dish to enrich a moment that wants to celebrate the art in all its most varied forms.

The start is scheduled at 9.30 with the endorsement of the canvases in the gallery of the Curci Theater. Then all together, armed with easels, sheets, canvas, paper, cardboard, canvas cardboard ready and ready to paint in full stylistic and technical freedom using charcoal, pencil, pastels, ink, tempera, graphite, oil, acrylic, watercolor, and so on Street.

The maximum dimensions allowed are 100 cm per side. Special features of the 2024 edition: all large and small artists, established or emerging, will paint together and will be able to bring, in addition to their work to be created, also two ready-made works, which will enrich the Temporary Art throughout the day on the course between Heraclius and the Curci theater.

The theme is a choice between beauty, kindness, architecture, sustainability, greenery, the environment.
Artists will have to bring canvases and supports, easels and colors and everything they need to prepare their work.

The Associazione Divine del Sud, chaired by the journalist Francesca Rodolfo, while ensuring the utmost care and custody of the works received, declines all responsibility for any theft, fire or damage of any kind to the works that may occur during all phases of the event (so as per ART. 7 RESPONSIBILITY of the tender project). Any insurance request must be signed by the artist himself.

To participate in the competition it is necessary to register on the appropriate digital platform www.eventbrite.it on the Events page and click on the Tickets item, then registering for the event called 3rd Extemporaneous Edition of Drawing and Painting / Giuseppe De Nittis Award “Hungry for Beauty – In the living room with Léontine”. The deadline set is May 15th.

Once registered, following the instructions on the site, the participants who have booked there
ticket will receive the digital ticket to download and print on their email address, previously indicated for registration. On the opening day of the event, participants must present themselves with a ticket (booked online via the Eventbrite platform) and a valid identification document for regular registration for the competition.

Upon registration, the Secretariat will endorse the support on which the work will be performed, by means of a stamp and assignment of a progressive number.
The execution of the work will be carried out between 10am and 4pm on May 26th.
At the end, a jury of technicians and experts will evaluate the works and decide the winner.

Following, after the awards ceremony, with Temporary Art and everything that will be out of competition but in support of the day of art and culture, “In the living room with Léontine” will begin: an initiative divided into small cultural salons with famous writers national team, who will be joined by two Léontines (special and professional models) with clothes faithfully reproduced by their partner and costume designer Charmelle Calabrese, to embellish the scene.

The foyer of the Curci will also become the elegant backdrop for the shooting related to photographic art, with the works and jewel sculptures of the Bari master Vito Gurrado.

During the lounge, the food and wine art will dominate with the tasting of wines and the art of the nectar of the gods explained by Carmine Galasso, the best sommelier in Puglia, and the aperitifs made in Puglia prepared by the special guys from Work-Autlavoro and autism, thanks to careful, total and inclusive collaboration with local institutions and associations.
