TURINSaturday 4 May the City of Turin will host the inaugural stage of the 107th GIRO d’ITALIA. The stage will start from Venaria and, after passing through various municipalities, will enter Turin in Corso Moncalieri (corner of Cunioli Alti road).

The race will pass for the first time under the Gran Madre finish line, from where the hilly tour will begin with the climb to Colle della Maddalena and the descent into the municipality of Moncalieri (Revigliasco area), reaching the finish line in Corso Moncalieri at the corner of Via Gioannetti on the same route final of the first round. The runners will complete 1 lap of the circuit, passing the finish line for the first time around 4.15 pm, to finish the race between 5.00 pm and 5.30 pm.

Traffic changes

Some events are therefore expected on Saturday traffic changes:

  • No passing on the entire route from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm
  • Do not stop with forced removal along the entire route from 04.00 to 18.00
  • during road closures, i driveways located along the entire route, they will not be usable from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm
  • Corso MoncalieriFiume – Gran Madre section: will be the subject of Do not stop with removal as early as May 3rdstarting from 06.00, to set up the arrival area.
  • hilly area: prohibition on crossing the route. In the time slot 1.00pm – 6.00pm it is not permitted to enter or exit the area inside the perimeter of the circuit
  • Chieri course: will be closed from Corso Casale (p. Marco Aurelio) towards Pino Torinese from 1pm to 4.30pm
  • Superga road: will be closed from Corso Casale (p. Gustavo Modena) in the direction of the Basilica from 1.00 pm to 4.15 pm. The Basilica of Superga, where the solemn mass in memory of Grande Torino will be celebrated in the afternoon at 5pm, will be reachable on foot, by bicycle, with the Sassi-Superga tramway and with GTT shuttles set up for the occasion. These will carry out continuous service from 12.00 to 19.00, with departures from Piazza Gustavo Modena
  • Overview (Strada dei Colli): closed from 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm
  • closed bridges from 1pm: Regina Margherita Bridge, Vittorio Emanuele I Bridge, Umberto I Bridge, Isabella Bridge, Balbis Bridge.
  • public transport: the routes of some public transport vehicles passing through the area affected by the event will be affected deviations. For details on the diverted lines, see the GTT website.
