Nurse resignation, Polichetti: “Safe working environment must be guaranteed”

“The flight of highly qualified professionals cannot be considered an isolated event”

Salerno.

Professor Mario Polichetti, head of the Pregnancy at Risk department at the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona in Salerno and trade unionist of the provincial Uil Fpl, expresses deep concern regarding the decision of the historic 118 nurse of the province of Salerno, Anna Vignolo, to abandon the territorial emergency service.
The testimony of Anna Vignolo, who listed serious reasons such as aggression, mobbing, disorganization and exhausting shifts, for Professor Polichetti is an alarming sign of the state of health of Salerno’s healthcare system. His courageous choice is a wake-up call that cannot be ignored.

“It is imperative that local and regional institutions take this situation seriously and work resolutely to ensure a safe and dignified working environment for all healthcare workers. The flight of highly qualified professionals like Anna Vignolo cannot be considered an isolated event, but rather a symptom of a systemic problem that requires urgent and targeted intervention,” said Polichetti. “The public health service cannot afford to lose such valuable human resources. The absolute priority must be to preserve and enhance the public health system, avoiding the impoverishment of human resources in favor of the private sector. I invite institutions to take note of this critical situation and take concrete measures to address the root causes that lead to the exodus of qualified healthcare personnel. Only through concrete commitment and effective cooperation between all interested parties will it be possible to guarantee a sustainable future for Salerno healthcare”.
