Victory in mourning for the death of the municipal councilor Giuseppe Cannizzo, 7 years old, a family doctor who retired last February. As reported by the Giornale di Sicilia, Cannizzo was the victim of a domestic accident last April 12: he fell from a ladder while picking lemons from a tree in the garden adjacent to his home and hit his head violently. For two weeks he had been hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Cannizzaro hospital in Catania, yesterday the news of his death. The family authorized the removal of the organs and the liver was removed and sent to the Ismett in Palermo.

Giuseppe Cannizzo had been elected in Vittoria in October 2021 on the civic list “Aiello mayor”, his name had circulated as a possible candidate for the presidency of the council. He had recently joined the political movement «Territorio». His place in the City Council will be occupied by Giannella Iabichella, first of the non-elected in the “Aiello mayor” list. Mayor Francesco Aiello has declared city mourning for today, when the funeral will be celebrated. Cannizzo is defined as an “illustrious man and municipal councilor of the city of Vittoria”. The funeral will take place today at 4.30 pm at the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista.
