Next May 4th in Reggio Calabria, in the spaces ofHotel Medinblu of Reggio Calabria, the inauguration of the third and final appointment with contemporary art within the event will be held from 6 pm Container of ideaspresenting the artist Salvatore Bruno Latellaknown under the pseudonym LBS.

The exhibition project, The Eden of the Oppressed“, edited by Marilena Morabito and organized byACAV associationit was possible thanks to the support and concession of the spaces and the promotion and support of the Hotel Medinblu and its director Sergio Pitasi and will be open to visitors for the entire month of May 2024. The exhibition project presents a site-specific installation, designed specifically for the hotel environments, giving the artist the opportunity not only to create a work of art, but to conceive it in close relationship with the space in which it is exhibited, thus adding an element of interaction between the work and the surrounding environment.

«The site-specific work “The Eden of the Oppressed” – describes the artist – proposes an interpretation in which Eden, rather than being a memory of an irrecoverable past, becomes a current and urgent context where the dynamics of oppression and liberation take place on a daily basis».

In a world where the voices of the oppressed try to make their way through the clamor of injustices, the liquid silences, street artist LBS presents his solo exhibition, “The Eden of the Oppressed”. This exhibition stands out for its provocative and deeply thoughtful approach, directly inspired by the theories of pedagogist Paulo Freireas outlined in his seminal work, “Pedagogy of the oppressed”. In this context, the LBS artist transcends the traditional boundaries of art for plumb the depths of human oppression through a contemporary and critical lensadopting Freire’s concept of oppression and liberation and transposing it into a visual art that directly questions consciences. Edenreinterpreted by the artist, it becomes a complex symbol of the human conditiona place where oppression is not only rooted in history, but is actively experienced and contested in the present.

The site-specific street art installation accompanied in the quiet and elegance of the Hotel Medinblu offers viewers a visual journey curated by LBS. Through the power of composition and symbols, the artist traces a path that incites reflection and highlights the persistent struggle for self-determination and justice.

The inauguration of the exhibition at the Hotel Medinblu, scheduled for 6 pm, represents a unique opportunity for the public to interact directly with the artist, the curator and the artistic director, thus deepening their understanding of the works on display and sharing ideas and emotions. The LBS artist has prepared a small lithographnumbered and limited edition, to be donated to the first 50 guestswhile the event will conclude with a convivial moment on the rooftop, offering an informal space for further interactions and discussions.
