the hearing in the Anti-Mafia Commission only after May 10th – BisceglieLive.it

The psychological battle between the Governor of Puglia and the anti-mafia parliamentary commission continues with press releases, summons and unavailability. The last word, in chronological order, was pronounced by Michele Emiliano who continues to reiterate that there may be a hearing for him but only after the debate in the regional council chamber on the no-confidence vote presented by the centre-right. In other words, he does not want to lend himself to the oppositions who could politically exploit his intervention in the Parliamentary Commission for a use considered undue by Emiliano himself.

«The President of the Puglia Region – we read in the latest note released by the Region’s press office – has sent the following letter to the President of the Parliamentary Commission of inquiry into the phenomenon of mafias and other criminal associations, including foreign ones: “Distinguished President, with reference to my summons to the Anti-Mafia Commission for the date of May 2nd at 10.30 am I inform you of my unavailability for all the reasons already stated in my letter of April 24th to which are added, as a cause of legitimate impediment at 10.00 am the convocation of the Conference of the Regions and at 12.30 pm by the Unified Conference convened by Minister Calderoli. In any case, since it is my intention to be heard by the Commission, I inform you that I am available at any time from 10 to 30 May, provided that the debate in the Regional Council of Puglia on the trust requested by the center-right has concluded with the vote”.

Today we await the response of the President of the Commission who, let us remember, also has coercive powers, but a possible tightening would mark a breakdown in political relations with no return.
