The President of the regional Anti-Mafia Commission, Antonello Cracolici, will also speak – together with equally relevant people

local authorities and sector experts – at the important conference on the theme “Challenges and solutions, critical analysis of usury and extortion in our province”, organized by the CNA of Trapani and the Antiracket and Antiusury Association “Gaspare Stellino”, Saturday 4 May from 9.30 am at the Youth Citadel of Alcamo.

The objective of the meeting – which will also see the participation of representatives of the police forces and direct witnesses who are victims of extortion and usury – is to analyze these very serious phenomena from different points of view, strengthen the support networks for entrepreneurs and identify good practices and effective strategies to stem them.

“In support of those most likely to be victims of usury and extortion, in particular small entrepreneurs and traders as well as their family members, we have taken action in collaboration with the Antiracket and Antiusury Association of Alcamo to establish a constructive dialogue with institutional representatives and the police – declare Giuseppe Orlando and Francesco Cicala, President and Secretary of CNA Trapani – The aim is to create a system around these potentially vulnerable people, not make them feel alone, and therefore create fruitful synergies in their support” .

“It is also important – they add – to raise awareness among entrepreneurs themselves to report. The phenomena of usury and extortion are in fact still very hidden today: very few people report it. Instead, we must all work together in the direction of legality and transparency, in order to prevent these crimes.”

Speakers at the conference will include, among others: Daniela Lupo, Prefect of Trapani; the Police Commissioner of Trapani; Filippina Cocuzza, former Prefect of Trapani; Tonio Mazzeo, Director Pro Tempore of the DIA of Trapani; Geremia Guercia, Provincial Commander of the Financial Police of Trapani; Fabio Bottino, Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of Trapani; Maria Grazia Nicolò, Prefect and extraordinary commissioner for the coordination of anti-racket and anti-usury initiatives; Maurizio Agnello, Deputy Prosecutor Trapani; Monsignor Pietro Maria Fragnelli, Bishop of Trapani; Antonello Cracolici, President of the Regional Anti-Mafia Commission.

The conclusions are entrusted to the National President of CNA Dario Costantini, the meeting will be moderated by the journalist José Trovato.
