“Tipicità in Blu”, the sea festival returns to Ancona

Ancona: “Sea, laboratory of the future” is the theme of the eleventh edition which will be held from 17 to 24 May in the Doric city

Alien species, aquaculture, stockfish, but also nautical and shipbuilding, man-marine environment balance, sea culture. From the 17 to 24 May the city of Ancona will explore all dimensions of the sea with the 2024 edition of “Typicality in Blue”.

Arrived at‘XI edition, the event, presents itself to the public of enthusiasts, scholars and experts with a completely new look and with many new features. Starting from the duration. Eight days to delve deeper into the trajectories of the sea as a paradigm of the future.
The distribution of events which involves new places is also completely innovative.
It will in fact be an edition “from sea to sea” to enhance the uniqueness of the Doric city that outlines an elbow on the sea. Ankon in Greek means elbow.

Typicality in Blu 2024 will first experience an intense weekend in Marina Dorica, the scenic tourist port structured like the bow of a boat pointing decidedly out to sea. From Friday 17th to Sunday 19th May this iconic place will become the “home” of Tipicità in blu, with insights into boating, guided tastings ranging from typical Ancona specialties to balanced diets, to alien fish species, which have arrived in the Adriatic also due to climate change.

An unusual salon will debut on Saturday and Sunday dedicated to the wines of “Marche vineyard”, curated by IMT-Marche Institute for the Protection of Wines and Food Brands Marche. The suggestions of the long-awaited “Sailing chef”, the now traditional gastronomic regatta that combines water sports and seafood cuisine.

In the week from 20th to 24th Mayhowever, the event will travel through various places in the city until reaching, for the final two days, ad Unicorn at the historic Passetto, another symbolic place of Ancona: a terrace overlooking the sea located on the other side of the “elbow”.

There are many projections towards the future, with the presentation by theMarche Polytechnic Universityof a futuristic machine capable of transforming plastics recovered from the sea into clean energy, and with the hackathon “The Blue Way”, an event dedicated to young people to transform creative sea-themed ideas into projects for the progress and well-being of the environment, communities and people.

Ancona

For the entire period of the event, lovers of seafood cuisine and those curious about unusual food and wine experiences will find special “menu in blue” and “aperiblu”. The undisputed “Star” of this edition will be the “sardon”, a fish intimately linked to the Ancona gastronomic tradition.

There Mole Vanvitellianaa monumental artificial peninsula with a pentagonal plan built in the 19th century to accommodate the quarantine of sailors, will host the exhibition “Vanvitelli and Ancona. Dreams, projects and revenge of a great architect”.

Tipicità in Blu is organized by “Imagine” together with the Municipality of Ancona, with the collaboration of Marche Region and Marche Chamber of Commerce. Scientific partner is the Polytechnic University of Marche, project partner is Banco Marchigiano. The number of collaborations is large, starting with Irbim-CNR together with many leading companies in their respective fields of activity.
