ANCONA «Let’s put aside controversies and discontent in the name of the number one objective: salvation». This has been the leitmotif of the last few months at Ancona. At all levels. A sort of stand by forced by the many corporate and technical problems that have gripped the Armed Knight during this incredible season. This is why at the end of the match against Lucchese (0-0) which confirmed their stay in Serie C without going through the playout lottery (due to the defeat of Fermana and the +11 from fifth from last place), the question of the Ancona fans is was unambiguous: dear President, will it be time to resolve these famous problems that have already been postponed beyond belief now?

Touch and run

The red and white patron produced the classic hit and run to be present. Having arrived from his headquarters in Hong Kong, as a surprise (not even that sensational given that many on social media, including us in our columns, had proposed it…), on Sunday afternoon he remained long enough to meet the team and Mister Boscaglia in the retreat at the Hotel Palace del Conero before going to the stadium.

The tension in your garage, the live view of the warning launched from the Curva Nord (“This torment is over… May Tiong and players teach you: this fan base must always be honored from the first to the last day” accompanied by the – sacrosanct – chorus “We deserve more”), a quick stop in the press room to respond to some jokes from the experts, the post-match dinner with the players and staff before breaking ranks and finally the plane to return home – passing through Istanbul where he will be busy with work – at 6.30 on Monday morning. It was Roberta Nocelli, CEO of the club who appeared very emotionally distressed at the end of the match, who revealed the upcoming steps on the agenda.

Well-defined deadlines

Next week she will be the one to fly to Hong Kong (or alternatively Tokyo) for the decisive summit on Ancona’s future strategies. Four points on the agenda to be resolved in an exhaustive and timely manner: clear and well-defined managerial relationships (including the position of Roberto Ripa, the subject of dispute during the year), reconfirmation of the coach Roberto Boscaglia (Tiong, in this sense, he delivered two important messages, one in favor of the Sicilian coach and one on the desire to build a top squad), choice of sporting director (Gubbio sporting director Davide Mignemi is always on pole) and closure of the center operation sporty.

One thing appears certain, at least from logical deductions. The fate of Boscaglia, who already has an option to exercise on the 12-month extension given his salvation, is linked to that of Nocelli (supporter of his arrival). It is unlikely that one of the two, in the current state of affairs, can remain without the other. Tiong, with the microphones turned off, also declared that he is planning a return to Ancona next month. By the end of May, therefore, he should finally meet with the mayor Daniele Silvetti to proceed with the notarial deed with which to confirm the purchase of the land adjacent to the Del Conero where the Ancona Sports Center will be built. A dispute involving 1,214,000 euros has been postponed too many times for the most disparate reasons (professional commitments, Chinese New Year, family reasons). It’s time to honor it effectively. Net of certified e-mails and various promises.
