DeWitt, NY — Two men were charged Sunday after shots were fired outside an Erie Boulevard East restaurant in DeWitt, police said.
Uriahy O. Testa, 20, and Izaiah O. Marshall, 19, were arrested after shots damaged a vehicle at the Empire Buffet at 3179 Erie Blvd E, according to Lt. Jerry Pace, a DeWitt police department spokesperson.
Officers responded around 7 pm to the restaurant in the DeWitt Town Center shopping plaza where witnesses to the shooting provided descriptions of the people involved, Pace said. Officers detained five individuals for questioning, he said.
While searching the area, officers found .40 caliber shell casings next to a vehicle in the parking lot, Pace said.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded .40 caliber Taurus TH40C handgun, Pace said. The vehicle was owned by one of the individuals detained by officers, he said.
Another vehicle in the parking lot was damaged after it was hit by bullets, he said.
Officers released three of the detained individuals and arrested Testa and Marshall.
Testa was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree reckless endangerment. He is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center on $100,000 cash bail and $500,000 bail bond.
Marshall was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is also being held in the Justice Center on $50,000 cash bail and $150,000 bail bond.
No one was injured in the shooting, Pace said. It is unclear at this time who was the target of the shots fired.
