Evidently, in the last championship match, Robur could not be outdone by the newly crowned Inter and so, in Foiano as in “San Siro”, they opted for female refereeing by appointing Annalisa Borriello of the AIA Section of Pontedera who this season mainly directed in Excellence (now 9 matches) and in Promotion (six matches). Honestly, after having had the opportunity to see her at work a couple of months ago in Uopini in the very delicate low-ranking match between ASTA and Lastrigiana which ended with a very tight 2-2, I hoped that sooner or later she would also cross paths with Siena because in the aforementioned match He really made an excellent impression on me with his competence, style and natural authority.

I was therefore satisfied at the last minute and, among other things, in a match which on the field turned out to be “real” despite the two teams no longer having any ranking interests, played with good rhythm and discreet competitiveness, offering the large crowd frequent fast reversals, chances on both sides, goals and good plays.

In this context Annalisa contributed positively to the enjoyment of the match by highlighting a strong personality with guaranteed influence over the players, which allowed her to never resort to disciplinary measures, and by hinting at a natural predisposition for refereeing on a technical level for the ability he has to make the game flow by always intervening with the right measure and for this reason also wisely resorting to the application of the “advantage rule”.

In short, I think I’m not wrong in considering Annalisa Borriello a very talented element with a crystalline class in the way of being on the pitch which is rare to find already in these categories, so much so that it is safe to bet that we will hear more about this girl in much more high levels. So it is not flattery if the highest vote among the referees who have directed Robur this season is hers.

The performance of the boy and girl who acted as assistants was also excellent but I have some advice for the whole trio given that to fix the net of one of the two goals the start of both halves had to be delayed by a few minutes: when you arrive at the stadium at least an hour before the kick-off, before going to the changing rooms to change it is always a good idea to take advantage of the walk that is usually done on the pitch to carefully check the nets of the two goals already then. In fact, it is difficult to believe that in Foiano the many defects in the shirts of one of the goals were due to training shots during the players’ warm-up and that they should have occurred well before.

To conclude, it seems like yesterday (and yet over seven months have passed!) that the Bianconeri took to the pitch in Borgo San Lorenzo to begin what no one then imagined could be the victorious ride that it was. Now, having reached Serie D, we wish this season’s referees – who I will talk about again next week for an overall evaluation of their work – to soon meet Siena again in higher categories. In this regard, we certainly do not place limits on providence…RATING 8
