Alessandria, 29 April 2024 – In the central corridor of the “Santi Antonio e Biagio” University Hospital, a photographic exhibition comes to life that celebrates the humanity and professionalism of hospital staff. “The hands of the hospital”, the photographic exhibition which will remain open until 12 May, is the fulcrum of the initiatives organized for World Hand Hygiene Day, a date chosen to underline the importance of daily gestures in the prevention of infections.
The shots of Lucia Voltaggio, photographer and employee of AOU AL, immortalize the hands of those who take care of patients on a daily basis, showing the complexity and dedication of hospital work. The exhibition represents Voltaggio’s vision: hands are not just instruments of care, but symbols of the human touch, essential in the 360-degree care of those entrusted to hospital care.
The series of display panels is a visual representation that honors all those who contribute to the well-being of patients, not just limited to healthcare workers, but including all roles that revolve around the hospital world. The exhibition is a tribute to the entire staff who work within the Alessandria facilities and who every day put their hands at the service of other people’s lives.
To enrich this cultural experience, information points will be set up on May 6 to spread awareness about hand hygiene. Visitors will be given disinfectant gel and information leaflets with fundamental rules on correct hand hygiene. This educational path will continue until May 12, the day dedicated to healthcare professions.
On the final day of the exhibition, dedicated to nurses and all healthcare professions, their vital role and the importance of correct hygiene practices, fundamental for patient safety and the effectiveness of care, are underlined.
The exhibition “The Hands of the Hospital” is an exhibition that not only informs, but excites and involves, placing art at the service of the public health message and the valorization of hospital staff, everyday heroes who write stories with their hands of life and hope.
