It is the event that everyone in the Canavese and Turin areas is waiting for: The 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia will start from San Francesco al Campo on Sunday 5 Maywith the start of the second stage (which will reach the sanctuary of Oropa) which will be given for the first time in the history of the competition by a velodrome, the Francone.
And if almost everything is ready in the city, with pink banners and shop windows everywhere, the municipalities neighboring San Francesco will also be affected by the passage of the Giro, with closed roads and changes to traffic.
“On Sunday 5 May, for the passage of the second stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024, starting from 10 am the streets Remmert, Vittorio Emanuele II, Matteotti and Borgo Nuovo will be closed to traffic – explain by the Municipality led by the mayor Michelangelo Picat Re – The Corsa Rosa will in fact arrive from San Francesco al Campo, will cross the concentric area along the aforementioned streets and will then continue in the direction Cirie. On these streets, transit, parking and crossing will be prohibited from 10am to 2.30pm. This ban, for safety reasons, will apply to everyone: motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians.”.
After passing through the city, the competition will continue in the direction of Ciriè and, as underlined in the ordinance issued by the San Maurizia administration, the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Region, the parking or transit of vehicles will not be permitted in the streets in question, not even for residents; the only exception is police and emergency vehicles.
San Carlo
San Carlo will also be affected by the passage of the Giro, with some roads that will be closed for the occasion, including Strada Ciriè, Strada Poligono, Via delle Scuole, Strada San Giovanni, Strada Militare towards the Lombardore-San Francesco roundabout at the Camp, approximately from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm. The notice concerns citizens and in particular residents with private accesses overlooking the route.
