PERUGIA – Umbria also stands out on the podium of the 17th edition of the Trofeo città di Lignano swimming meeting, three days in Lignano Sabbiadoro which ended last weekend in which 28 teams from all over Italy participated.
Among others, the Umbrian teams also took honour, with a second place for Centro Nuoto Bastia Asd and a fourth place won by Thebris Nuoto of Ponte Felcino. Open to all athletes registered for Fin, the meeting involves all categories, from beginners A and B up to the Absolute. Over 500 athletes hosted in the Bella Italia sports village who competed every day in the 50 meter pool with 8 lanes in 2024.
The success of the two Umbrian teams is made even more precious by the feature of the long pool. In fact, as Perugia does not have a sports facility with an Olympic swimming pool, training and preparation for all athletes are exclusively on a short course, making this type of competition more tiring. The second and fourth place of the teams from Bastia and Perugia are therefore precisely for this reason very important results, the result of hard work by the clubs and the many kids who practice this sport with great passion and sacrifice.
Umbrian swimming has enjoyed excellent health in recent years with positive prospects for members and number of sports clubs distributed across the regional territory. This is also demonstrated by the results of the athletes from the green heart of Italy at a national and international level and there are many young promises ready to participate in the next events on the calendar.
