L’AQUILA – “We will be at Fonte Cerreto at 8.30 am on May 1st to symbolically and concretely give our solidarity and attention to that world of the mountains which will suffer from the impossibility of using the Gran Sasso cable car from next May 1st, with this which can result in terms of loss of employment and wages, risking compromising the tourism system of our mountains”.

This was announced by the CGIL of the province of L’Aquila which celebrates the workers’ day by bringing its “Caravan of Rights” throughout the provincial territory, “ideally uniting the territories on the theme of Peace, Work and Social Justice. It will be an opportunity to reflect, together with male and female workers, on the conditions of work and non-work in our province”. The flash mob at Fonte Cerreto will be concluded by the band concert of the City of Paganica.

On May 7th there will be the debate “The future of Gran Sasso” will be at the center of a public meeting to be held on May 7th, at 5.30 pm, at the Multifunctional Center of the Camarda hamlet. The event, promoted and organized by some operators of the “mountain system”, aims to be a moment of discussion and proposal open to all citizens interested in the fate of our beloved mountains.

On May 1st at 10.30 am the CGIL will be in Luco dei Marsi “where for a long tradition the feast of workers is celebrated in Piazza Umberto I, with an eye to the peasant struggles for emancipation and redemption that still today they are relevant and provide us with an example to imagine the future”.

“We will conclude in Sulmona at 5.00 pm. It will be an opportunity to reflect on the condition of that area of our provincial territory which is today afflicted more markedly than elsewhere by the evils of all the internal areas of our province. Depletion of the industrial fabric, depopulation, lack of services, and environmental aggression. The initiative will end in Piazza XX Settembre in Sulmona with music and songs from the world of work curated by Michele Avolio. We thank the Municipality of Sulmona for its patronage of the initiative”.
