With the translation of the Cross and the issuing of the Notice, the Palio of the centenary of Legnano city officially opens.
The Translation of the Cross opened the Palio di Legnano 2024
The Translation ceremony, which brought the Cross of Ariberto d’Intimiano back to the Basilica of San Magno, where it will be kept for the entire month of May, took place in the late afternoon of Saturday 27 April, in a crowded square full of colors.
The districts in celebration and many citizens welcomed with warmth and affection the Crocione, religious symbol of the victory of the Palio di Legnano, which arrived in the square from the church of the Holy Redentore, where it had been carried in triumph last year by the contradai of Legnarello winners of the Palio 2023.
Various authorities were present to welcome Crocione in front of the entrance to the Basilica of San Magno, including the mayor and supreme magistrate Lorenzo Radicefor the first time don Domenico Alongethe grand master of the College of Captains and Districts Raffaele Bonitothe president of the Legnanese family Gianfranco Bononi and the knight of the Northern League Andrea Monaci.
During the ritual, the Victory Band for the year 2023 was handed over to the Captain of the Legnarello district.
After the issuing of the notice by the supreme magistrate, the eight districts went up to the churchyard to collect the notice.
Choirs, chants and songs were the setting on several occasions during the ceremony. The particularly warm and lively Legnarello district made its voice heard.
The events of the Palio 2024
The appointment for the Palio 2024, where a new page of Legnano history will be written, is for Sunday 26 May.
