Shots at eye level exploded from a car in Forlì. The alarm goes off, but the police discover that it was just a prank by two men aged 56 and 67 dressed as cowboys returning from a party. The joke, however, cost them a complaint for dangerous explosions, caused alarm and disturbed people’s rest.

It all started in the night between Sunday 28 April and Monday 29 April 2024 when 112 received a call from a policeman off duty who had noticed a car proceeding at reduced speed in front of him and at a certain point an arm extending out the passenger side window holding a gun and pointing at eye level in the direction of houses and shops. In disbelief at what he was seeing, the soldier clearly heard several gunshots explode. At this point, the operations center, having received the report, diverted three police patrols to the scene who, with sirens blaring and flashing lights in operation, thanks to the indications of the colleague who was following the suspicious car, managed to quickly block the car in viale dell’Appennino. Obviously the roar of the sirens attracted the attention of the residents who found themselves witnessing a real scene from a detective film, men in uniform on the street with bulletproof vests worn and machine guns drawn.

The occupants of the car did not even have time to get out of the vehicle and were literally blocked by the promptness and firmness of the intervention. Once the entire area had been secured and the occupants had been invited to get out of the car with their hands raised, the police found themselves faced with two men aged 67 and 56, both originally from the area and dressed as cowboys, while they were returning from a themed party that had taken place in the area, blank shots were fired at the homes. Subjected to a personal and vehicular search, 2 “Me Ranger” brand metal drum pistols were found and seized, equipped with a red cap on the end of the barrel, as well as 47 still unexploded shots. Fortunately, once the military ascertained that the stunt had been carried out with the use of a dog swatter and not with a real firearm, the two were taken to the offices of the provincial command in Corso Mazzini and reported.
