It is the middle of the night, between November 30th and December 1st. For over a month Giorgia Meloni has announced, via Facebook, the end of her love story with Andrea Giambruno, left after that The news spreads had broadcast the journalist’s outbursts with repeated sexist phrases.

These are difficult days for the family of the leader of the Brothers of Italy. And the daily newspaper Tomorrow recounts an episode which, if confirmed by the investigations of Rome’s chief prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, would trigger a spy story mystery around Palazzo Chigi.

That night, outside the villa just purchased by the prime minister, in southern Rome, there is Giambruno’s car, while Meloni is busy on a mission abroad. And a short distance away there is a police car keeping watch. The officers notice two people fiddling around Giambruno’s car, complete with light. The policemen, again according to what was reconstructed by Tomorrow, they approached and asked for the two’s personal details, who however showed a badge qualifying themselves as “colleagues”, and then disappeared. The police immediately send a report to Digos. The police chief Pisani is informed directly, and as a result the Minister of the Interior Piantedosi, the undersecretary with responsibility for the secret services Mantovano, the then head of Aisi Parente and his right-hand man Del Deo. In addition to Meloni, of course, who is stunned.

What were those men doing around your ex-partner’s car? Were they looking for something? Or, a more disturbing hypothesis, they were trying to plant a bug or a GPS to locate Giambruno? The report ends up in the prosecutor’s office and the head of the Roman prosecutors, Lo Voi, deals with it personally. The agents of the Internal Information and Security Agency (Aisi) carried out the initial investigations, working to identify the two men and to understand whether or not this episode was putting the security of our institutions at risk. Thanks also to the description of the agent who found himself face to face with the so-called “colleagues” at 3 am, the suspects would have been identified quickly. With great surprise, it turns out that they are two secret agents who are part of Meloni’s large escort. Or to be precise, according to sources consulted by Courier: two agents whose dismissal had been requested by the same FdI leader for some time. A choice for which, however, the reasons are not known. In the «Giambruno-gate», at this point, there would be all the ingredients to hypothesize a conspiracy by members of the secret services. The prime minister, who has chosen the husband of her personal secretary Patrizia Scurti as escort leader, asks for clarity. And it directly involves Undersecretary Mantovano, delegated authority for security, with Elisabetta Belloni, head of national intelligence.

At this point, however, another twist occurs. The AISI changes its version: the two men identified are no longer agents of the same security agency, but rather a banal pair of fences. A completely different truth, in short, much less embarrassing.

But the final point, at least officially, can only be made by the investigation by the Rome Prosecutor’s Office. Meanwhile, the undersecretary to the presidency of the Mantua Council intervened on the case: «I promptly reported on the episode – as the delegated Authority for the security of the Republic – in my last hearing at Copasir on 4 April. I have no difficulty in reiterating what has already been clarified in the parliamentary office: the investigations carried out for the intelligence part have made it possible with certainty to exclude the involvement of members of the Services in the episode, and that the safety of President Meloni has never been placed at risk.”

While those who know the delicate balance of intelligence point out: «At the beginning of April, on the eve of a very delicate period with the European Championships and the G7, when Meloni decided on the name of Parente’s replacement at the Aisi summit, the prime minister turned to Bruno Valensise of DIS, an external pawn, and not to Giuseppe Del Deo, deputy of the same Relative at Aisi”. A decision which, perhaps, was influenced by the shadows of the «Giambruno-gate».
