«Let’s fight together to avoid isolation»

«I appeal to collective common sense, to fight together to avoid our isolation. Politics has failed. He was unable to find a solution in the state of emergency, with a precarious, provisional and dangerous access; and now with the closure their responsibilities will be eliminated. For our children and grandchildren, they need to know that we fought for their future. Every time we condemn them to follow such a dangerous path, we will partly have a clear conscience knowing that we fought for them.” This is the invitation that Pietro Zito, owner of the starred “Antichi Sapori” restaurant in Montegrosso, delivers to the community, regarding the matter linked to the forthcoming suppression of the Montegrosso roundabout on the Andria-Canosa di Puglia provincial road, but more generally of the serious situation linked to the persistent insecurity of the provincial roads to and from the rural village of Montegrosso.

A story that in recent days has touched the minds of the residents and the operators of the productive activities of the village of the city fidelis, after the news had arrived that at the beginning of May the roundabout would be removed, despite the invitations of the mayor Giovanna Bruno aimed at to ask the province to transfer the road section to the municipality so as to avoid the removal of the roundabout.

A dismantling of the roundabout which will not take place at the moment, as the D’Oria company from Andria, in charge of completing the road works on the important Bat artery, communicated to all interested parties in the late morning of Friday 26 April the decision to ignore this matter. Decision made following the outcome of what happened in the last few days and in order to avoid “unrest and/or even more serious situations”, as he was keen to underline.

The choice follows the invitation made by the Prefect Rosanna Riflesso to “postpone the removal operations of the roundabout” to a date after the next meeting of the parties involved, scheduled for 7 May, while both the TAR and the ordinary judiciary were involved in the matter .

And the PD regional councilor, Filippo Caracciolo, had also intervened on the matter in recent days: «Common sense and institutional synergy are needed – he said – For this reason, together with councilor Grazia Di Bari, I requested and obtained a hearing in the fifth commission for on May 6th. To deal with a delicate situation and give concrete answers to the residents and owners of the numerous commercial activities present in Montegrosso, dispelling any fear of isolation, a correct institutional synergy must be put in place. Clashes are useless, we need listening and understanding.”
