The race
An uphill start for Giacobazzi, who went down after 6 minutes: Jesi surprised the Modena rearguard and with Santini found a goal in the first phase between the posts.
Modena’s response was not long in coming: three minutes and the play from the scrum freed Pianigiani, who overcame two and scored. Assandri doesn’t miss from the pitch and evens the score. The pace remains low, but Giacobazzi begins to take control of the operations and in the 17th minute completes the comeback thanks to Operoso, who reaches the goal after a series of pick and gos and celebrates his 50th cap in the First Team in the best possible way . Assandri makes the conversion again, finding the posts and making it 14-7. Match directed and Modena in control, building a couple of good opportunities, without managing to increase the score. The hosts find countermeasures to the green-and-white maul, but Giacobazzi still finds a way to increase the spoils: Musajo collects the ball from the touchline and goes on his own for the 19-7 which puts the first half to rest.
Less emotion in the second half. Coach Rovina changes in the mix, immediately inserting Luca Venturelli, then Ori on the front line. Giacobazzi goes in search of the bonus goal, but a bit of frenzy and a few too many fouls make the white-green-blue game less fluid, while Jesi holds the field well and remains connected to the match. The only real shock of the second half came once again from Musajo, who scored his personal brace on the hour mark and gave Modena the bonus point. With the result achieved, captain Michelini and his teammates chose to slow down and little happened in the last quarter of the match, with the exception of Nicola Vanzini’s debut.
The blow in Jesi does not change the ranking of the green-and-whites, now arithmetically fourth when only the last round is missing at the end of the championship, which Giacobazzi will play next Sunday against Pieve at the Luciano Zanetti stadium.
