European Championships, Abbadini encores and drags Italy to bronze

Yumin Abbadini covers herself in bronze and drags Italy to the podium at the European Championships of Rimini. After third place in the individual general competition and seventh place on the barre, on Sunday 28 April the 22 year old from Ranica signs the second bronze of his continental event finishing with teammates Marco Lodadio, Mario Macchiati, Lorenzo Minh Casali and Matteo Levantesi with 252.560 behind Ukraine, gold, and Great Britain. Turkey stops at the foot of the podium, beaten by the Azzurri in the head-to-head match for the medal. For the Azzurri, defending champions, it is the third continental podium in a row after the gold in Antalya 2023 and the silver in Munich 2022.

Abbadini’s individual performance was excellent. The Bergamo native starts off well on the rings and vault, rises to the level on the barre and free body and ends up with a super execution on the pommel horse that puts an authoritative signature on the bronze sky blue. Italy concludes the continental event with eight medals, two seniors signed by Abbadini and six juniors, including silver in the general youth competition won on Sunday 28th by Tommaso Brugnami.
