The match between Inter and Torino in which the Nerazzurri celebrated with their fans the Scudetto n.20, therefore the second star, was historic for the presence on the pitch of an all-female referee team, with match director Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi and assistants Francesca Di Monte and Tiziana Trasciatti.
Inter won 2-1 but what partially ruined the party were the insults directed via social media at the referee Ferrieri Caputi, ‘targeted’ on the web by Granata supporters for Tameze’s expulsion at the start of the second half, when the match was still at 0-0. But, among the comments on Instagram there are also those who defend it, such as the ‘doc’ Inter fan Enrico Mentana: “On social media you can read thousands of frustrated – his post -, of life even before sport, seriously offending the referee of Inter-Turin, only because she was a woman, with the excuse of a disputed expulsion. An excuse that was blatantly untrue, given that the match director had only warned the player, who was then sent off following a warning from the VAR. Poor suckers, who will inevitably pop up. also under this post.
Referee, don’t worry about them.”
But the ‘pink team’ of Inter-Turin also received compliments from FIFA president Gianni Infantino. “It was fantastic to see an all-female referee team officiating a Serie A match for the first time,” the FIFA president wrote on Instagram. “Congratulations to referee Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi and assistants Francesca Di Monte and Tiziana Trasciatti for having refereed the match between Inter and Torino. I hope that your nominations are the first of many.”
