Mens Sana fails to do so. Puccioni’s winning shot from three at the end doesn’t even touch the rim and San Vincenzo wins game 3.
In the first and second quarters, coach Betti’s boys are unable to hold off a wild San Vincenzo which immediately goes ahead by ten points.
A ten point gap that the green and whites are unable to close, despite some flashes in attack from Tognazzi and Puccioni.
Siena ends the first half at -12 with the inertia all on San Vincenzo’s side.
As happened in game one and game two, Mens Sana leaves the locker room with the desire to recover. Prosek will take care of it, finishing the game with 17 points, Marrucci and a team defense of total sacrifice that bring Mens Sana to -6 at the end of the third quarter.
The final quarter is a point-to-point chase. San Vincenzo is more cynical in taking advantage of Mens Sana’s mistakes and leaving the last shot with just 21 seconds left.
After coach Betti’s time out, Pannini lets time pass, waiting for Puccioni’s cut, who tries to shoot from three without even finding the scoreboard.
The Mens Sana players leave the Pala Giovani applauded by the fans who have come from Siena to support them.
