Snowfall on the Direttissima, three minor injuries

Cnsas and 118 rescuers intervened on the Campo Imperatore side to help the people involved in the small avalanche. Recommendations to follow the instructions of MeteoMont

L’AQUILA – The operations center technician of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue, present within the Pescara 118 Operations Centre, received, shortly after 1pm, an SOS from the single emergency number 112 for some people injured as a result of a snowfall that affected the Bissolati canal and the direct route on the Gran Sasso.

The teams were immediately activated and reached Campo Imperatore and, through the L’Aquila 118 operations centre, the air ambulance, which provided aid to three hikers who were injured. At the same time, the more than 15 technicians who arrived on site provided assistance to the numerous people who crowded the Abruzzo mountains today.

During the operations and subsequent overflights, other detachments were observed along the various channels of the southern side, which affected other people, fortunately all unharmed. One of the injured, taken back to the cable car, was taken care of at Fonte Cerreto by an Alpine Rescue doctor, who followed him to the hospital in the Abruzzo capital, but fortunately for him too it was nothing serious

The National Alpine Rescue Corps recalls the importance of correct equipment and clothing suitable for the environment, especially in consideration of the fact that the MeteoMont meteorological bulletin for today reported a marked degree of avalanche risk, due to the rise in temperature which had been widely expected for the weekend. Also present in Campo Imperatore is the SAGF-Soccorso Alpino Guardia di Finanza.
