The Mayor of Apricena Antonio Potenza and the Department of Culture Anna Maria Torelli and Carla Antonacci communicate that Apricena has lost an esteemed person for a few days: the prof. Carlo Florio.
«The writer and professor» – underlines the Department – «has dedicated verses and prose to his beloved country, touching on various themes in a transversal way, from Frederick II to tales of local culture, but, for a few days, this fine and elegant pen , master of the dialect and universal language, has stopped writing.
For some years he had been living in Vicenza, but was in direct contact with his land of origin.”
«We will remember» – adds the Mayor – «his elegance and discretion, his path in memory that created written testimony of Apricena. Carlo Florio was also a character in the university history of Aprice, active in the “Matricola” of the 1950s.
His name is also linked to our stone, if we take into account his sculptural art, which in Apricena can be admired in the effigy of the wild boar in Via L. Galasso and in the stele depicting “Johannes de Precina” installed on 2 April 2016, in the square dedicated to this Apricenese ancestor sent to Veneto by Frederick II. I am sure that all his fellow citizens will always remember him with esteem and profound gratitude.”
