Martari: “We would like to take this opportunity to pass on the message of the importance of peace”

The tournament ended with greetings from the authorities and the subsequent awards ceremony, a moment led by Paolo Martari who at the beginning thanked all those who worked hard to make the tournament happen: managers, coaches, sponsors, the Polisportiva and Scaligera Basket.

With this tournament we want to connect young people who come from different territories, because beyond the sporting result we like the idea that the comparison is also between different places, different people who practice sport with different characteristics and styles and we believe it can be a reason for growth. Three years ago the first conflicts arose and we thought of peace as a value to promote for children because they are our future and we believe it is a non-trivial aspect to experience also through sport. We always hope it is useless to call it a peace tournament but the events of these times invite us to reflect and we would like to take this opportunity to pass on this further message”.

Cordioli: “This tournament sends a beautiful message: transmitting the importance of peace to the entire community through sport”

The Villafranca sports councilor joined in the greetings and thanks Jessica Cordioli who then clarified: “These initiatives are very important for our territory. Important not only for the sporting value but also for the social value you transmit. For years the Polisportiva has been testimony to this not only through the Peace tournament but with all the activities it carries out with the children of our territory. Sport is competition, but there are many other values that are transmitted through sport and it would be nice if all these values were understood by the whole community“. He concludes: “I think the Peace Tournament is a beautiful message because we convey to children, families and the whole community how much this objective can be achieved through sport. Today it is not a given and we set it as a goal and we all work on it together“.

Crivellaro: “A training experience that enriches their sporting background”

Fabio Crivellaroregional councilor of the Fip Veneto, promoted the initiative and highlighted its contribution to the tournament: “All the kids had the chance to have a technical experience and compete with teams they don’t usually find in their groups. A training experience that they will carry with them in their basketball and non-basketball growth. As a regional committee, in our small way, we contributed by bringing the Venetian representative and the referees. As Fip Veneto we always try to promote these activities because they do the good of basketball“.

Special prizes for the referee category and for the winner of the three-point shooting competition

Once the institutional greetings were concluded, we moved on to the team awards, with a special prize for the referee category. In memory of the referee Stefano Del Greco who passed away a short time ago, a commemorative plaque was given to his wife and the referees who refereed the 20 matches with the motivation: “In memory of Stefano Del Greco, basketball referee, with the hope of knowing how to live this service with commitment, moderation and safety“.
