Enercom Fimi in Vicenza cannot keep up with the home team, third in the standings and in the running for a place in the playoffs, so the Venetians beat the red and whites who pay for some breaks during the three sets for long stretches played point by point. For the Crema team it is the first match without scoring points since February 17th, the date of the away match in Volano, a defeat which was followed by six victories and a defeat in the tie break.
In the match in the Vicenza arena, the second coach Mary Guerini is leading the team from the bench with Moschetti in the stands due to disqualification and the sextet chosen to start is that of the last matches with Moretti as setter and Giroletti as opposite, Despaigne and Pagliuca as forward, Ravazzolo and Foils in the center with Labadini free.
Vicenza starts by extending the lead to 5-1 but the aces of Ravazzolo and Giroletti, in addition to Fioretti’s block, allow Enercom Fimi to return to a draw at 6. A series of errors from Crema favor the new Vicenza lead with 12-9 but also the the home team makes a mistake and the red and whites take advantage of it to overcome them at 13-14. In the second part of the set Vicenza becomes more incisive and with a 5-0 break it goes up 20-16. The red and whites try to come back with Ravazzolo and get back to 21-20 but the end is for the hosts who close at 25-21.
Enercom Fimi started well in the second set (2-5) but their opponents regained parity before a five-point break from Crema with Ravazzolo’s block which led to 10-15. Vicenza gets closer to 15-17 but another winning block brings the score to 16-20. Also in this case the end is all for the Vicenza team led by Boninsegna who with a partial of 9-1 takes the set at 25-21.
The third set opens with Vicenza leading the score reaching 9-4 but Enercom Fimi asserts itself with a block and gets closer to 15-14 even if it struggles in attack. Moretti’s ace leads to 17-16 but Costagli is the protagonist of the 4-1 which leads to 21-17 and three consecutive errors put Vicenza at 24-18. Once again Giroletti and her teammates reacted with character and with two attacks from Fioretti they took the lead to 24-22 before surrendering to Boninsegna’s attack.
