The large mural panel “Saudade: the face of Senna”, created by the artist Stefano Pierotti, was inaugurated this afternoon and was mounted yesterday on the wall of the Acer building (public housing), in via Cenni 10, in Imola. At the inauguration, among others, the mayor Marco Panieri, the artist Stefano Pierotti, Fabiola Salucci, member of the Acer Board of Directors, Marcella Pradella, director of IF, who coordinated the installation intervention and representatives of the the company Tecnopose Srl, which installs the work for free.

The sculptor Stefano Pierotti donated the wall panel to the City of Imola, expressing the desire “that the work be installed in a popular context, thus respecting the same values ​​expressed by Senna”. Furthermore, in that area there are already murals on the facades of the adjacent buildings.

The large wall panel (3.33 meters base and 4.20 meters high, with a thickness of approximately 4 cm), was specially created by Pierotti on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Senna’s death, as a link of memory that starting from that dramatic day, continues until the creation of the monument “to Ayrton Senna”, inaugurated on 26 April 1997, and placed in the Parco delle Acque Minerali to be updated with today’s artistic intervention.

The Municipality of Imola, 30 years after the death of Ayrton Senna, has in fact intended to remember the great Brazilian champion with a new project by the artist Stefano Pierotti, author of the monument dedicated to Senna. The new project is part of a rich calendar of events entitled “Senna 30 years”, organized by the Municipality of Imola in collaboration with the “Instituto Ayrton Senna”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Region Emilia-Romagna to remember the tragic death of Ayrton Senna (1 May 1994) and Roland Ratzenberger (30 April 1994), on the weekend of the XIV San Marino F1 Grand Prix, at the “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” racetrack in Imola.
