For the Jewish community of Livorno it was “prejudice, disguised as pacifism, against Israel” that was implemented Friday evening on the stage of the Goldoni Theater in Livorno by the actors when at the end of Turandot they displayed on stage the banner with the words “Stop genocide” and a Palestinian flag.
The Council of the Jewish Community of Livorno in a statement criticized it as “vain”.the attempt to “justify” the farce» of the banner « which was staged on the stage of the glorious Goldoni Theater referring to “precedents” such as those of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan or the San Carlo in Naples: although they were omissive about the need to free the kidnapped Israeli civilians, they did not carry flags of much less did they rave about “genocide”.
«Improposable – adds the Jewish community of Livorno – is then the refer to the flag of peace: this is not what was exhibited at the Goldoni, despite the Theater and the City, where the reference was not to the rainbow, the biblical symbol of peace taken from that flag, but rather to prejudice, disguised as pacifism, against Israel”.
For the Jewish Community of Livorno «it’s not pacifism plead for a ceasefire by displaying the flag of only one side and accusing the other, unspeakably, of “genocide” in contempt of history and truth”, “it is not pacifism to ignore the fate of the Israelis and others kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October 2023, many of whom were unfortunately murdered”, “and it is not pacifism to look the other way or take refuge in twisted and cryptic statements, so as not to recognize the rapes that have occurred and are taking place on kidnapped Israeli women; the trade by Palestinians, as macabre trophies, of the severed heads of victims of Hamas’ aggression; the rockets, drones and missiles that today, with the complicity of powerful allies, rain down on Israel.”
Finally, at the end of the same note, a «Thank you to those who have and are stigmatizing what happened, and a thought of solidarity with those, paying audiences, workers and artistic cast, who have felt used and exploited for a mere political propaganda operation”.
