The first edition of the “5 km Golfo dei Poeti” is one of the competitive flagships of the 2024 edition of “La Spezia Outdoor”, the event and sports event taking place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May under the direction of the Municipality of Spice.
In fact, on Sunday morning the starter will kick off the competition in the city centre, with start and finish in Piazza Europa on a FIDAL certified route and included – one of the few on the Italian scene – in the Global Calendar of World Athletics, as well as valid as a regional Master Championship .
The 5 km distance is becoming established among top athletes all over the world, after having been for years a specialty run almost exclusively in the United States, and represents a real “business card” of the next Track and Field Championships, in program in La Spezia in two months, on 29 and 30 June by Atletica Spezia Duferco.
For the 5 km the meeting is in Piazza Europa, with the start scheduled for 9.30 on an extremely fast city route, suitable for those seeking to obtain a personal best at an international level.
To encourage participation in the 5km even by those who are not looking for records, but simply want to run, a non-competitive version has also been designed, which will start in the wake of the top runners. To register for the competitive event the registration fee is 8 euros, 5 euros for the non-competitive event with a non-competitive medical certificate required.
The delivery of bibs and race packs will be active on May 4th from 3.30pm to 7.30pm and on May 5th from 7am to 9am at the Endu and Atletica Spezia gazebos in Piazza Europa where you can register up to half an hour before departure.
