Let’s talk about again ‘Arena Sanremo’or rather the project for the new stadium of the city of flowers which Sanremese presented in recent months and which did not fail to prompt strong discussions between the Matuzian association and the municipal administration led by Mayor Alberto Biancheri.
The president of the Corso Mazzini company today hosted the candidates for mayor who, in just over a month, will compete at the polls for the seat of mayor. Alessandro Masu exposed the slides and the stadium project he has in progress and also spoke about two other projects, in particular the renovation of Villa Helios and the Pian di Poma training field.
Masu openly asked the candidates if they intend to embrace the project or if it would not make sense for them to exist in the Corso Mazzini area. He declared himself open to identifying other areas beyond the current Municipal one Pian di Poma where the project can be implemented. There was no lack of a new jab at the current administration: “I asked for this meeting with you – Masu said – like that of the Casino in January, given that the executive of Palazzo Bellevue did not want to have a discussion. It’s right to think about festivals, flower floats, Milan-Sanremo and rallies, but something new is needed, especially for services. Traffic and parking are a big problem for the city.”
“I believe very much in public-private projects – he said Gianni Rolando – and, of the project presented, I really like its versatility. If it were just a stadium and that’s it, I wouldn’t have liked it as much. Today the possibility emerged of moving it to Pian di Poma where, among other things, the Aurelia Bis will emerge. Obviously the urban and technical feasibility must be verified, which I see as easier in Pian di Poma. Imagining a ‘sports citadel’ together with the Villa Helios clinic is certainly interesting. If I am mayor you will have the support of my administration.”
“The original idea of building the stadium in Corso Mazzini – he argued instead Alessandro Mager – it left me very perplexed, in which such an impactful structure would have created many problems. However, when Masu told us that he would be available to redevelop the Pian di Poma area and renovate Villa Helios, the conversation changed and became much more interesting. I started by saying that I don’t yet know if I will become mayor and, in any case, if it happens I will certainly not be a monarch. In fact, I will have to deal with what my administration will be. However, I am a Sanremese fan and I was also a founder of the ‘Commandos’. So, if the project is much more feasible on Pian di Poma, I will work towards it. I also asked how he plans to amortize the large costs to be faced and Masu replied that he intends to do so with the organization of events and not just with football”.
“On the first presentation of the project – he said Fulvio Fellegara – I had noted the criticality of the parking spaces and the roads, both for football and for shows. The move to Pian di Poma must be verified and the involvement of the other companies is needed. We need to have an overall project for the whole sport but I have guaranteed maximum availability for an open discussion with whoever presents the project.”
“Why not support this project – he said Roberto Rizzo – given the current critical issues of the stadium, thinking about relaunching Sanremese. The possibility of a new stadium, with an important synergy with the public administration, is welcome. We must always have a serious discussion, even with citizens and associations.”
“I knew part of the project – he highlighted Erika Martini – and you can’t help but appreciate it. Perhaps there was a fear of giving too much interest to the private sector or making exorbitant demands on the public. An administration that said no to confrontation should be locked up.”
