28/4/2024 – A sudden death, one of many, too many, that have been affecting young or relatively young people for months, for causes that most of the time remain unknown. The entrepreneur passed away at just 67 years of age Mirco Salsifounder of Reggiana Gourmet and ex-president of the provincial Cna of Reggio Emilia.

Mirco Salsi

Salsi died in his home, on his birthday, of a sudden illness: his family found him lying on the floor in the kitchen. The body is now in the Modena forensic clinic awaiting the decisions of the judicial authorities: an autopsy cannot be ruled out.

Mirco Salsi was one of the most prominent entrepreneurs in the food and wine sector: it is also due to him and his ability that excellent products such as cappelletti and tortelli from Reggio have made it on to international markets.

At the height of his success, he was overwhelmed by the Aemilia and Octopus investigations which revealed the existence of a colossal illegal finance ring. In Aemilia he had been sentenced at first instance to 4 and a half years in prison, later reduced to three on appeal: however he never crossed the threshold of prison, as a result of the long time spent under house arrest.

His company resumed business without him until it was sold to a Parma company which eventually closed the Bagnolo in Piano factory, where the history of the industrial take-off of traditional Reggio gastronomy had been made.
