Great artistic ferment on the second floor of XNL Piacenza where the 2024 edition of “Bottega XNL-Making Theatre”the High Theater Training course of the Cinema and Theater section of XNL Piacenza directed by Paola Pedrazziniled by the Workshop Master Fausto Russo Alesi.
In just under a month, they responded to the national call launched in March (in a well-attended meeting with the scholar Luciano Canfora and Russo Alesi himself). over two hundred young actors and actresses from all over Italy.
An important confirmation of great interest aroused by the project both in quantitative terms (the very high number of applications) and qualitative: the artistic level of the candidates it is in fact particularly high, to the point that the director and teacher Fausto Russo Alesi asked to be able to expand the number of students compared to the twenty originally planned.
The group of young actors
The group of selected actors and actresses is made up of 23 young people from 23 to 39 years oldwith an average age of 30 years, all graduated from established theater schools in Italysuch as the Piccolo Teatro School of Milan, the “Paolo Grassi” Civic Theater School of Milan, the “Silvio d’Amico” National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, the “Nico Pepe” Civic Academy of Dramatic Arts of Udine or the Academy of Ancient Drama Art of Syracuse.
Coming from different regions (mainly from Lombardy, Lazio and Piedmont), they arrived at XNL in recent days to take part in this path which makes Piacenza a point of reference for theater training. Bottega Iphigenia in Aulis by Euripides, which will be staged in its national premiere at the Ancient Theater Festival of Veleia on 21, 22 and 23 June.
In this first week the young actors and actresses are busy all day on the second floor of XNL for the first phase of the work focused on the text that Fausto Russo Alesi is analyzing with them. The award-winning playwright was also in the classroom Letizia Russo who specifically for Bottega XNL-Fare Teatro, edited the unpublished translation of theIphigenia of Euripides.

“A virtuous circuit of artistic and cultural training”
“Fare Teatro” is one of the two souls of Bottega XNL, the training project of the Theater and Cinema sections of XNL Piacenza, the Center for Contemporary Art, Cinema, Theatre, Music of Foundation of Piacenza and Vigevanoand – together with its cinematographic counterpart “Fare Cinema” – triggers and synthesizes a virtuous circuit of artistic and cultural training-production-enjoyment: that is, it gives life to a laboratory project (high formation) aimed at flowing not into an essay or an exercise in style but into an original theatrical work (production) which will be presented in its national premiere at the Veleia Festival, then returned to the community of spectators in the collective ritual of the theater (artistic enjoyment).
