BGY Airport Granfondo, together with its partners, continues to pay great attention to the issue of environmental sustainability. The event that will return to color the streets of the city and province of Bergamo Sunday 5 May 2024 is an example also in this respect. Thanks to renewed collaboration with Uniacque and Sarco Toyotatwo realities with common roots in the Bergamo area, will in fact come limited consumption of plastic and fuel during the event, and sustainable habits will be provided to participants and staff.

A choice that gives continuity to path to promote light mobility, which has always been one of the objectives of the Bergamo Granfondo. At every refreshment point along the route they will be set up the EcoZones, i.e. the areas used for the collection of waste of all types – from water bottles to snacks – and marked by appropriate signs. Furthermore, it will come encouraged the consumption of drinking waterin the face of a reduction in water in plastic and fuel to transport it.

Through Granfondo’s participation in the project Uniacque called “Acqua Eco Sport” and the “Water Alliance Group” will in fact be spared the transport and use of 18 pallets of plastic water. The project, which was born in 2017 and is based on the three concepts represented in the name, aims to raise awareness of aspects such as “care, attention and respect for the water resource, a primary and precious asset, for human well-being and health, for the healthiness of the environment for a sustainable future”and it is finalized “to the promotion and support of sporting initiatives in line with the concept of environmental sustainability”.

Another important initiative was made together with the Sarco Toyota dealership, which will supply for the second consecutive year electric cars following the eventto guarantee assistance and the smooth running of all operations.

BGY Airport Granfondo has also implemented a dedicated section on the official website www.granfondobgy.itand on the appropriate page “Green Event” it is possible to find a series of good eco-sustainable habits to use in different areas, not only during the event but also in daily activities, ranging from reducing the use of paper to the conscious choice of food and drinks, preferring local and season.

EVE AT “CASA SANTINI”

As already announced in recent months, the new headquarters of the event, which on Saturday 4 May will host the distribution of numbers and race packs, the Expo Village, the press room and the secretariat, will move from the Lazzaretto of Bergamo to new city headquarters of Santini, in via Zanica 14, in the Malpensata district.

The new company headquarters will open its doors to thousands of cyclists and enthusiasts who will reach the city of Bergamo for the event. With a large and comfortable internal and external area and pleasant green spaces that will welcome the Expo Village with the exhibition stands of the Granfondo partners, it will be a day of eve to be experienced intensely. The area will be open to the public and participants Saturday 4 May starting at 9am and until 8pm, there will also be entertainment and refreshment areas for guests and the public. On Sunday 5 May the traditional Lazzaretto area of ​​Bergamo, near the start and finish line in via Marzabotto, will return to color and light up the celebration of the BGY Airport Granfondo 2024.
