forty cellars under the porticoes

Everything in San Giorgio di Piano is ready for one of the most anticipated events of the local spring: the San Giorgio DiVIno. Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May in fact, the historic center of San Giorgio will once again open up to the world of oenology, thanks to the two wine days par excellence. In this third edition there will be more than 40 wineries that will reach the village in the center of the Bolognese plain from all over Italy and beyond.

Participants will have the opportunity to taste and buy directly from the producers, in the beautiful setting of the arcades of via Libertà, the main street of the town. The tasting stands will be located under the arches, while customers will have the entire street and square at their disposal to stroll around, glass in hand. An event that is carried out by young people from local associations. “This year’s offer – says Alessio Atti, one of the organizers – covers it almost all regions: from Friuli Venezia Giulia to Sicily, from Piedmont to Calabria and Sardinia, while maintaining particular attention to the Bolognese and Emilia-Romagna territories. We are very satisfied with the availability of so many producers, after the success of past editions.”

“We are very pleased to involve all the gastronomic offer of the town – adds Francesco Lambertini, ‘pillar’ of the event for some time – with many different specialties to taste. In addition to the wines to be tasted, in fact, there will be many refreshment points, the great part by the Sangiorgese commercial activities, while others will be present for the occasion. Furthermore, we will have a farmers market of local producers and quality artistic craftsmanship”. “Since the first edition – specifies Matteo Garuti, another organizer – this has been an opportunity to bring the world of wine closer to people, with a spirit of celebration and conviviality. You don’t need to be an expert, curiosity is enough to taste or the desire to meet the winemakers in person, to learn more about their work”.

For mayor Paolo Crescimbeni “this event enhances the potential of our porticoes, demonstrating the liveliness of our community and a positive collaboration between associations and local commerce. San Giorgio DiVino also contributes to making San Giorgio a beautiful town to live in”.

As in the past, San Giorgio DiVino will be able to count on the experience of Aies, the International Academy of Food and Wine Sommeliers, and will be supported by the local Proloco. The initiative also supports charitable projects in the area. Appointment on Saturday 11 May, from 5pm to 10pm, and Sunday 12 May, from 11am to 8pm.
