one reported for carrying a knife

CATANIA – He had a switchblade and a dose of marijuana: a 21-year-old from Paternò was reported by the Carabinieri after an intervention at Villa Bellini to break up a fight.

The quarrel

On the morning of Saturday 27 April the attention of the Carabinieri of the Piazza Verga station, assisted by their mounted colleagues from the Fourth Regiment, was attracted by the request for help from an agitated woman who was trying to break up a violent argument between her 56-year-old companion and an unknown man, later identified by the Carabinieri for the 21 year old from Paterno.

Once calm was restored, the Carabinieri reconstructed the contours of the affair ascertaining that at the basis of the argument there were futile reasons and misunderstandings, arising from a request for money made by a beggar. The 21-year-old, thinking that the homeless man had approached him on the indication of the 56-year-old, became angry at the alleged “buck-passing” and physically lashed out at him.

The search

The Carabinieri crews then realized that the 21-year-oldafter the argument, he had started bleeding from his nose, which is why the intervention of the 118 health workers was requested. The boy got nervous at the request for help, and the Carabinieri decided to carry out further checks.

After realizing that the soldiers were about to search him, the 21-year-old took a 16-centimetre switchblade and a dose of marijuana from his jeans pocket, which earned him a referral to the Judicial Authority and a report to the Prefecture of Catania as a drug user. The emergency room staff at the Garibaldi hospital then diagnosed him with a broken nose, which could be healed in about twenty days.
