The circulation of a winter nature has been definitively replaced in Italy by its extreme opposite. Currents of hot air of African origin recalled by the deepening of an Atlantic trough on Western Europe. The increase of temperatures it was also sensitive up to 10°C higher than on Friday. For now these currents are predominantly anticyclonic in curvature and, apart from a few cloud clusters that still persist in the Northwest, they are a guarantee of almost absolute stability over Italy. But since Tuesday the progressive advancement towards the central Mediterranean of a low pressure vortex born on Gibraltar, will bring a new worsening of the weather. So this one will last very little new phase with a semi-summer flavor and then the rain will return soon than on Wednesday May 1 it may be locally intense in some regions. So let’s see how it goes:
On the day of Monday we will have prevailing stable and sunny weather conditions over Italy with some modest cloudy disturbances in the Northwest associated with completely isolated phenomena. Temperatures will further increase slightly everywhere with peaks up to 27/28°C. Ventilation will be moderate in sirocco.
On the day of Tuesday Increasing clouds in the Northwest and over Sardinia with some showers or thunderstorms more likely from the afternoon. Still mostly sunny elsewhere but with a tendency towards some rain towards the evening also in western Sicily. Temperatures will tend to decrease slightly from the west, they will still be stable and summer-like in the east. Ventilation will be moderate to tense at times Scirocco.
On the day of Wednesday 1 May the disturbance associated with the cyclonic vortex will reach all of Italy, bringing rain and thunderstorms, even intense ones, to the Northwest, Lombardy, western Emilia, the major islands, the central Tyrrhenian belt and Campania. The Triveneto, eastern Emilia, Romagna, the middle-lower Adriatic and the Ionian Sea will remain more protected from bad weather, where local phenomena are not excluded. The temperatures will be generally decreased, the ventilation strained from the southern quadrants.
Following days: the central Mediterranean basin will continue to host a low pressure area which will be responsible for new conditions of instability over Italy. Rain and local thunderstorms are still expected with a further slight drop in temperatures.

Even in high pressure conditions, in the height of summer, short, localized but sometimes intense thunderstorms can suddenly form and surprise us: they are the so-called ‘heat storms’ and are more likely between late afternoon and early evening.
