Senna 30 Years in Imola

The May 1, 2024 they will be 30 years exact from that damned San Marino GP. To remember the two pilots who passed away that weekend, Roland Ratzenberger And Ayrton Senna, the Imola Autodrome will host numerous events from 8 in the morning until 3 at night. All the info, the program and timetables can also be found on the ayrton-senna.it website.

Senna 30 Years, morning

8:00 am – Opening to pedestrians. Like every May 1st, the track will be open to pedestrians. Access is free and you can wander around until to 6pm (more info on the racetrack website and Instagram).

9.30am – FLAG MOB. To take part in the flash-mob in honor of Senna and Ratzenberger, all you need to do is get on the track wearing the colors of the flag of one of the two pilots. Green-gold-blue for the Brazilian Ayrton, White Red for the Austrian Roland. The event is free and without reservation.

Senna 30 Years, afternoon

1.30pm – Senna 30 commemoration. Local, national and international authorities will meet together with the public at Tambourine variant to remind Ayrton Senna. Later he will also be remembered Roland Ratzenberger with deposition of flowers at the Villeneuve variant.

2.17 pm – Minute of silence. On May 1, 1994 at 2.17pm the steering of the Williams FW16 of Ayrton Senna it broke, sending the car into the Tamburello wall. The moment will be celebrated with a minute of silence.

4.30 pm – Ratzenberger documentary. The audience will move in pressroom to attend the screening of an excerpt from the film on Roland Ratzenberger, by German director Peter Levay (here is the official trailer).

4.45pm – Presentation of the book “Senna. The truth”. Staying in pressroom you will be able to attend the presentation of the book by Franco Nugnes entitled “Senna. The truth”. Access is free while places last and there is no possibility of booking.

Senna 30 Years, evening

8.00 pm – Start of Brazilian Aperitif. The evening can continue inside the “Al Parco” disco, located in the Acque Minerali area. Until 3:00 am you can experience one evening with a Brazilian flavourseasoned with music, tastes and dances from Ayrton’s homeland.

9.15pm – Theatrical show “The Night of the Seine”. Those who prefer a more cultural evening can go to Ebe Stignani Theatre, a 22-minute walk from the racetrack. You will be able to attend theatrical monologue “The Night of the Seine”taken from the book “Perdere Senna” by the Italian-American GJ Squarcia, accompanied by music and images.
