The Peregrinatio of the Votive Lamp and the Gospel of Saint Mark continues, organized by the Network of Marcian Cities. Yesterday the councilor Andrea Chiarato, on the delegation of the mayor Matilde Celentano, went to Ollastra to deliver the two sacred objects, kept from 20 to 26 April in the cathedral of San Marco in Latina, to Osvaldo Congiu, mayor of the small village in the province of Oristano.

The passing of the baton took place during a religious rite dedicated to the Holy Evangelist, officiated by Don Enrico Porcedda and Don Daniele Quartu, two young priests who lead five parishes in the area. The celebration took place in the oldest church in Sardinia dedicated to the cult of San Marco. Present at the ceremony were numerous citizens, representatives of the Pro Loco of Ollastra and other local cultural associations, Angelo Marino, mayor of San Marco dei Cavoti (Benevento), treasurer of the Marcian Cities Network, and Elvira Salzano, ambassador of the Network from the municipality of Afragola (Naples).

“Once again, the Network of Marcian Cities – stated councilor Chiarato – has given us the opportunity to compare ourselves with other realities and to have a cultural exchange with them aimed at territorial promotion. I thank the mayor of Ollastra for the welcome received, made up of convivial meetings, discovering the beauty, history and traditions of a wonderful community like the island where it is located”.

Yesterday evening, Mayor Congiu entertained his guests, first in a tourist tour of the churches and exhibitions of Ollastra and then in a public meeting organized in the Town Hall to share the experience of the Network with the citizens, concluding the celebrations of the festival of San Marco with a concert of Sardinian popular music during which the city of Latina was thanked for its presence.

“To the representatives of the Network of Marcian Cities, to the mayor Congiu and to the citizens of Ollastra I brought greetings from our mayor Celentano. This is a Network that does not separate but that unites; it unites the cities that share the cult of San Marco around which build bridges with possible opportunities for all”. The votive lamp and the Gospel of San Marco will remain in Ollastra until June. The next stop of the Peregrinatio will be in Teggiano, in the Salerno area.
