Sunday in notes From Vox Mutinae to Llukaci

Two musical events for this Sunday at the end of April. At 6pm, the seventh edition of the ‘Vox Mutinae’ event, organized by the Actea association, will be inaugurated in the auditorium of the Rossini Choir (in via Borri 30, free entry). The protagonists of an opera recital will be the two singers who won the 2023 edition of the competition named after the great bass Nicolaj Ghiaurov: the bass Andrea Vittorio De Campo, who won first prize, and the soprano Anna Cimmarrusti, will then perform in concert. which won the special ‘Mirella Freni’ prize. They will be supported by maestro Davide Cavalli, pianist and accompanist with international experiences, who has also collaborated on productions directed by Riccardo Muti. Andrea Vittorio De Campo already has important theatrical experiences to his credit, for example in ‘Carmen’, on tour in various opera houses in Spain, ‘Aida’ at the Alighieri theater in Ravenna, ‘Bohème’ at the Real in Madrid, and participations at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. Anna Cimmarrusti made her debut in stagings of works by Traetta, Rossini, Pergolesi, Puccini and has numerous performances to her credit: she combines the lyrical-symphonic and lieder field with an interest in the baroque repertoire.

At the Piccolo Teatro Alberione (via III February), again today at 5pm, the penultimate event of the winter season is held by the Salotto Culturale Modena (free entry, from 0 to 10 euros). In the spotlight will be Sabrina Gasparini, with the violin of Gen Llukaci and the accordion of Claudio Ughetti, who will celebrate 15 years of artistic collaboration: it was they who proposed the first musical initiatives at the Salotto. Their concert today is entitled ‘The best of Music without borders’, the result of the group’s constant research, always attentive to discovering particular music stolen from the popular cultures of the world. Sabrina Gasparini has been on the scene for many years, not only locally: ‘hungry’ for music, she divides her time into the role of performer and organiser. She is appreciated for her vitality and for her dark-toned voice, of special expressiveness. Gen Llukaci, an Italian Albanian, boasts a solid classical preparation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana: he has performed from Brazil to Russia, alongside the big names in opera, and has also played for John Paul II and Benedict XVI in the Vatican. Claudio Ughetti is the poet of the accordion: born musically in Sassuolo, he worked alongside the unforgettable Pierangelo Bertoli: in his style, he ranges from Eastern European music to poignant South American melodies.
