Ten municipalities in the province of Trapani will soon see new urban video surveillance systems installed. The projects, presented by the Municipalities of Marsala, Valderice, Paceco, Calatafimi Segesta, Castellammare del Golfo, Castelvetrano, Gibellina, Partanna, Mazara del Vallo and by the Union of Municipalities of the Belice Valley, obtained the favorable opinion of the Provincial Committee for the Public Order and Security, chaired by the Prefect Dr. Daniela Lupo.

The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of the Interior, aims to equip municipalities with technological tools for the prevention and fight against widespread and predatory crime phenomena. Video surveillance systems, in addition to having a deterrent function, will be able to provide important support to the investigative activities conducted by the police.

Prefect Lupo expressed great satisfaction with the participation of the municipalities in the project. “This is a great opportunity for our territory”, declared the Prefect. “These video surveillance systems will help increase the level of safety of our citizens and make our cities more livable.”

The projects will now be sent to the Ministry of the Interior which will evaluate their financeability. The municipalities that obtain the financing will finally be able to proceed with the installation of the new video surveillance systems.

The intervention of the Ministry of the Interior represents an important step forward in the fight against crime in the province of Trapani. The new video surveillance systems, together with the commitment of the police, will contribute to making the area safer for all citizens.
