Fasano – History is rewritten for Pantaleo Podio Volley Fasano which in its first participation in the B1 series championship achieves qualification for the promotion play offs. A long-awaited success achieved thanks also to the eleventh consecutive victory achieved in this second round. The decisive match was played in Marsala, against the only remaining contender for the promotion play-offs. An amazing victory scored by Valentina Barbolini and teammates who, despite the precarious health conditions of some Fasano athletes, managed to reach a historic goal, to say the least.
“We are freshmen in this category, with a coach in his second year as first driver and a female sporting director. Nobody gave us credit but we have built a team that is a winning machine – says the sporting director Micaela Cofano – and tonight we proved it by winning and reaching the goal we set. The girls were truly exceptional, achieving this first goal two days before the end of the regular season. Now we enjoy a few days of well-deserved rest while waiting to play the last two days of this championship which will give us the opportunity to prepare ourselves as best we can for the promotion play-off phase.”
The start of the match sees the Fasano players somewhat tense also due to a rather difficult week of work. A first set, which despite the balance of the first few bars, ended in favor of the Sicilians. A point that probably misleads the hosts who, when the game resumes, suffer the vehement reaction of the coach’s girls Paolo Totero which immediately balance the scores. From then on the race turns exclusively in favor of the president’s yellow-blues Renzo Abete who with two more exemplary sets to say the least collected the three points up for grabs from a victory that wrote a new page in the history of the Fasano club.
