“It is a fundamental work that will not overturn the territory, but will improve it and repair the mistakes of the past that have depopulated the historic center.” With these words the governor of the Marche, Francesco Acquaroli, presented the project for the new motorway toll booth that will be built in Potenza Picena. The tender for the awarding of the works will take place in 2025, while the construction site is expected to take 20 months. This is what was illustrated during the public meeting on Friday evening in the Scarfiotti auditorium, where the regional councilor for Infrastructure Francesco Baldelli and the mayor Noemi Tartabini, now a candidate to achieve the second mandate, also took part. “In all, 42 million and 700 thousand euros are the resources allocated by the Region for Potenza Picena – said Baldelli at the beginning –. Specifically: 30 million will go for the new A14 junction, 11 million for the variant that will move the state road from the center of Porto Potenza, 1.5 million for the link road connecting via Olimpia and via Beethoven and 200 thousand euros for the maintenance and expansion of the area in via le Rupi”. Baldelli also went into the details of the new toll booth. “Here we are talking about sustainability, to reduce pollution and Co2 emissions – added the regional councilor -. In fact, the Civitanova junction is the busiest in the Marche region, with 28 thousand vehicles a day. Therefore with the Potenza toll booth Picena we have calculated an average of 9,200 vehicles that will pass there per day, removing heavy traffic from the Regina road and the main road, and thus creating a safer road system. The feasibility study of the work has been concluded, we will now move towards the definitive design.” .
Governor Acquaroli also spoke. “An intervention that has been awaited for decades, to stop the depopulation that is taking place in the hinterland – he observed -. This will serve to increase the attractiveness of the companies present in the industrial area of Potenza Picena, regenerating the Potenza valley. Furthermore, it will be useful given the great tourist and cultural vocation of the city”. Instead, Mayor Tartabini gave updates on his electoral campaign: “We will present ourselves with three lists, made up of 45 people, and we have two more meetings planned with the citizens. The toll booth will serve to better connect us with the tourists who come here, in summer. The commitment is maximum to make the country grow”.
