here is Selene Fiori and her “Tell me about yourself”

Olbia. The city’s Community Hub, with its relevant socio-cultural project, seems to be enjoying increasing success and visibility in the area (and beyond) also thanks to its web radio. Web-Roch in fact boasts a varied schedule with strong social references, as studied by the Project Manager Maria Pintore together with the participatory editorial team, starting from the values of inclusion and sense of community on which the entire Olbia Community Hub project is based . Among the radio formats that are best suited to providing a social and community service is weekly broadcast “Tell me about you” hosted by speaker Selene Fiori.

Graduated in psychology and passionate about creative writing, Selene is one of the coordinators of the Community Hub as a representative of the Oltrans Service SPS. Although she was among the initiators of the web radio project, she began her journey as a speaker only later, considering the hosting of a program that was already part of the schedule since its origins, but previously hosted at first by two her fellow speakers and later by Maria Pintore herself. Selene, after having attended the course to become a speaker, literally falls in love with this program and asks to be able to host it because she feels it is hers: “Tell me about yourself” embodies everything I do in my professional life and therefore I immediately felt it sewn on you like a tailor-made suit. This show is wonderful and iconographic from the point of view of the foundations on which the Community Hub was built as it allows people to express themselves and tell their stories – explains the presenter.

Although Selene initially remained a bit behind the scenes, she immediately teamed up with her “radio companions”, contributing, with her energy, joy and friendliness to the creation of that family atmosphere that can be felt on Web-Roch and which can be observed among the collaborators, who have formed authentic and genuine bonds of friendship. Selene says: “I discovered the true essence of radio in its artistic dimension. What for me was a “box that transmitted music” was transformed into a microphone, headphones and control room with all the responsibility that comes with it. As simple as it may seem from the outside, in fact, the radio hides a wonderful world which deserves to be studied, explored and managed: when you go on air you need to be concentrated and try to convey the message you want to give clearly; the only tool available is the voice and the error can always be around the corner, without the possibility of being “cut”. Not having the possibility of going back, the tension rises, but when you are supported by colleagues with whom you have established a friendship, even gaffes become a reason for jokes and contribute to creating moments of fun and light-heartedness, in the spirit of ‘self-irony that allows us not to always take ourselves too seriously, but pushes us to strive to improve ourselves more and more. However, there are other moments in which seriousness must be extreme, as the personal stories of the guests and their experiences deserve the utmost respect and it is essential to give the right weight to their words, doing justice to the people. I believe that respect for the person who is donating his time and experience is due, as the value of him as an individual is always immense”.

The teacher says about her Maria Pintore: “Selene is ironic, has a nice sense of humor and knows how to listen. These characteristics of him intertwine perfectly with the hosting of “Tell me about yourself”. She is discovering the pleasure of the radio, carving out for herself and her guests, always very original, a space perfectly balanced between irony, curiosity and listening. Also helped by the profession that she carries out with passion, Selene is focusing on some of her characteristics. I forgot! While she chats with the guests she creates beautiful drawings. For her, imagination, good taste, desire to do and try are crucial even behind a microphone.”

Selene considers it an honor to lead a program full of social meaning like “Tell me about you”, as it allows her to deal with people and grants her the privilege of always knowing new things thanks to the comparison with others, from which she often draws important life lessons and also allows her radio listeners to open up to new horizons. The speaker concludes: “From this experience I will always carry with me the gift that people give me when they make me participate in that part of the precious world that they choose to share with us. I love stories and I think that there are truly many people out there who have something important to teach and that it is right to give them this possibility by providing the right space in which they can say all those things that deserve to be shouted out. Only in this way will we be able to open a window in society to show ever-changing visions of living life.”
