“The logistics hub near the A14”

“The food logistics hub could move from the former sugar factory to an area near the A14”. The mayoral candidate of I Progressisti, Stefano Marchegiani, chose yesterday morning’s discussion in Metaurilia, with his colleagues Cristian Fanesi (Centre-left) and Luca Serfilippi (Centre-right), to launch his proposal on the food logistics hub, envisaged by the new Prg in the area of the former sugar factory and strongly contested by residents. After having abstained in the city council, guaranteeing a quorum for the majority for the approval of the Prg, while his M5S allies voted against, yesterday Marchegiani hypothesized the transfer of the new production site elsewhere. The opportunity was offered by the discussion between the aspiring mayors on the topic of the suburbs, promoted by the Albatros association and which effectively officially opened the third Metaurilia Cabbage Festival, scheduled yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Leading the debate, which passed without excessive controversy, were the journalist Maura Garofoli, the urban planner Pia Miccoli and Sonia Campanelli of Albatros. “What worries me – Marchegiani pointed out – is not the logistics center itself but the transit of trucks which will be at least a hundred a day and not 40, as initially hypothesized”. To modify the Prg, according to the candidate of I Progressisti, “an act of direction with which the municipal council will undertake to review the destination of the area” will be sufficient. Serfilippi in turn undertook to divert the 20 million euros intended for the Gimara Variation, an infrastructure that Serfilippi confirmed not to share, on the southern coplanar road. But didn’t the Seri council lose the 20 million euros from the Cipes fund, the subject of the 2018 agreement between the Region and the Municipality? “I will try to recover them – Serfilippi was quick to clarify – I will try to go and speak with the Ministry of Infrastructure (led by Salvini ed.) and with the Region”. Instead, Fanesi drew applause from the public when, speaking about the retreat of the Adriatic railway line, he distanced himself from the Region “which would like to maintain the railway along the coast for regional connections: I am for eliminating the tracks”. For Fanesi, the retreat of the Adriatica will replace the existing route which can be exploited for soft mobility and to improve the quality of life of citizens. Among the emergencies common to all peripheral neighborhoods, “those beyond the motorway and beyond the river” there is the danger of the roads which brings with it the request for cycle paths and sidewalks, but also the flooding and the spread of the baby gang.

If Serfilippi committed himself to solving the problem of “cycle paths that end up nowhere” with a new urban traffic plan, Fanesi relaunched his commitment, once mayor, to involve citizens in decisions: “We need – he said – a shared administration, as we have started to do with the participatory budget, but above all we need to bring services out of the centre”. Marchegiani instead focused on the need to enhance every single suburb, with the creation, for example, of “an archaeological park in Camminate, in the area of the Malatesta Castle, the creation of social places in Roncosambaccio or the establishment of municipal services in Ponte Sasso”.
