Away defeat for OR Reggio Emilia in the first leg of the first round of the playoffs. Mister Margini’s team falls 3-1 in Potenza Picena against Kappabi and next Saturday, in the return match, they will have to attempt the “remuntada”.
THE MATCH – The first half is very tactical and the fight only comes to a head when the two contenders stretch out a bit: Nikinha shoots high following a nice counterattack from the Marches, coming face to face with Guennounna but missing the aim, while on the other hand Mazzariol arrives on an assist from Edinho but, after sitting down the direct marker, he finds a response from Luciani.
The second half was of a completely different nature, with the home advantage arriving after less than 1′ thanks to Nunzi; Kappabi’s joy does not last long, because this time OR’s Brazilian axis leads to the equalizer, scored by Mazzariol following a pass from captain Edinho. OR understands that it is time to press and shoots just wide with Valtin Halitjaha, then Arduini comes close to doubling the lead from a throw-in pass from the usual Edinho; Mazzariol, after having recovered the ball, shoots from a tight angle and is met by Luciani, while shortly afterwards in a photocopy action it is Ruggiero who has his shot saved by the opponent’s number 1. Potenza Picena passes when no one expects it: Diiorio, forgotten by the defense, finishes on the post, while Gomez is the quickest on the ball who makes it 2-1 from two steps. OR would have immediately had the ball to make an impact, with Ruggiero unable to convert, but then it was Guennouna who had to say no twice to Sgolastra. In the final, a handful of seconds from the siren, Potenza’s trio arrives, with Pereira realizing Gomez’s pass into the open field after a bloody turnover by the guests.
