The chapel of the former Lucchesi houses the “Diffuse Sketches”

There chapel of theformer Lucchesi hospital recovered and regenerated as an exhibition venue for i “Circular sketches”. After the whitewashing, cleaning and installation of the new burnished steel and glass fixtures which open up the view towards the interior, the small place of worship which once collected prayers for the people admitted to the city hospital became presents it again to the community of Pietrasanta with a first, partial setup promoted by the municipal administration to continue the story, in the territory, of the heritage of plasters and more “hidden” models as a dowry to Museum of Sketches.

The widespread museum project, inaugurated with the exhibition of the “Aesculapius” in the round in the premises of the municipal pharmacy – explains the mayor and councilor for culture, Alberto Stefano Giovannetti – is one of the initiatives with which we want to celebrate the first 40 years of activity of the exhibition complex named after Pierluigi Gherardi. We proceed in stages, giving priority to sketches not previously visible to the public and, in this case, also recovering a place dear to Pietrasanta and the people of Pietrasanta, as well as of undoubted historical value”.
The chapel was built at the same time as the former hospital but had a notable impact
development and enrichment during the 1920s thanks to the donations of many citizens, given as a sign of gratitude to the nuns of the Order of the Holy Family who took care of them and offered comfort to the sick and their families. The temporary installation designed for this space is entitled “Dating” and it does not have a “classic” museum layout, with the base supporting the works which, instead, are in contact with the floor, precisely to recall the “earthly” meeting between people.

L’setup is underway: the sketches have already been placed “Chatter” And “Meditation” by the London artist Harry Marinsky, “Announcing Angel” And “Sacred Heart of Jesus”both by anonymous authors, all so far preserved at the city plaster cast gallery but not visible to the public. Soon, on the small stoup at the entrance to the chapel, he will come installed The “Adoring cherub” (anonymous artist) from the Studio Lapis plaster cast gallery.
